Are Cellphones Killing Honeybees?

Summary:There is a fact that the world honeybee population is decreasing around the globe. Scientists have various possible explanations for why that is happning, such as cold weather, genetically-modified crops, and viruses. They have another explanation now and it is mobile phones. Swiss researchers have done a study which is about the relationship between mobile phones and the honeybee population. One of the researchers, Daniel Favre says his study shows a relationship between the growing use of cellphones and declining bee populations. He recorded the bees' sounds with mobile phones in the hive. He observed what the bees were like when the mobile phones were active and inactive.  From this observation, it is discovered that the bees weren't disturbed by mobile phones that were inactive or on standby. However, active and ringing cellphones confused the bees and caused them to fly away from and leave the hive.  That shows that honeybees are sensitive to electromagnetic fields generated by the mobile telephones.

Comment: This news was very interesting to read.I was surprised at this article because I did not expect there was a relationship between mobile phones and the honeybee population. I think we should think about other animals or insects even though mobile phones are indispensable for us today.
